MELBOURNE - Sep 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over the central Tasman Sea. A cold front is approaching from the west and is forecast to move across the state during Tuesday and Wednesday morning bringing rain and strengthening winds to the southern and eastern parts of the state. Another high is forecast to quickly move in behind the cold front by week's end. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain areas over the southwest, increasing about the western slopes of the southern ranges by evening. Snow on the alpine peaks later. Remaining fine in the northeast though cloud increasing. The chance of thunderstorms in the southwest, more likely in the Riverina. Fresh to strong northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a gusty westerly change in the west.Wednesday 10 SeptemberShowers in the east, contracting further east during the morning and clearing in the early afternoon. Chance of isolated thunderstorms in the east at first. A few snow showers on the Alps. Generally dry in the west. A west to southwesterly wind change reaching the northeast in the afternoon.Thursday 11 SeptemberIsolated afternoon or evening showers about the southern border. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. West to southwest winds.Friday 12 SeptemberIsolated showers along the coast and eastern ranges., mostly in central parts. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Southeasterly winds.Saturday 13 SeptemberIsolated showers along the coast and ranges, mostly over the northern half.
