Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system in the central Tasman Sea will maintain onshore winds and showers along northern half until early Tuesday afternoon. A cold front is approaching from the west and is forecast to move across the state during Tuesday and Wednesday bringing rain and strengthening winds to the southern and eastern parts of the state. Another high is forecast to quickly move in behind the cold front by week's end.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMorning fog in coastal districts, central and northern ranges and northern slopes. Frost on the northern ranges. Rain areas developing over the southwest half, increasing about the western slopes of the southern ranges by evening. Snow on the alpine peaks later. The chance of an early shower or two on the northern coast, otherwise remaining fine in the northeast though cloud increasing. The chance of thunderstorms in the southwest, more likely in the Riverina. Northwest to northeasterly winds freshening ahead of a gusty westerly change in the west.Fire Danger -  Very High for Northern Riverina and Far Western Fire Areas.Wednesday 10 SeptemberRain areas in the east, tending to showers and contracting to the southeast inland. A few snow showers on the Alps. Generally dry in the west. West to southwesterly winds.Thursday 11 SeptemberIsolated showers in the south, most about the western slopes of the ranges. Mostly sunny remainder. West to southwest winds.Friday 12 SeptemberIsolated showers along the coastal districts and eastern ranges. Mostly sunny remainder.
