MELBOURNE - Sep 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A 1033 hPa high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea. A cold front which moved across the south on Monday has moved over the northeast and will clear the State later this afternoon. A second vigorous front will move across the south on Tuesday followed by another front in the south later on Wednesday. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy rain and isolated thunderstorms east of about Moomba to Leigh Creek to Mount Gambier contracting east and clearing by mid morning. Scattered showers developing over Eyre Peninsula late morning, then extending over the agricultural area during the afternoon before contracting east and easing during the late afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms over Eyre Peninsula and the remainder of the agricultural area during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers extending into the far south of the pastoral districts during the afternoon. Strengthening northwesterly winds ahead of a fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly change in the west during the morning, extending throughout during the day.Wednesday 10 SeptemberMedium chance of showers developing over southern coasts and ranges and a slight chance over the remainder of the southern agricultural area during the morning. Possible morning fog in the west. Mild to warm with mainly moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south.Thursday 11 SeptemberMedium chance of showers extending over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts during the morning and clearing from the south during the day to be fine throughout by early evening. Possible morning fog in the west. Cool in the far south, mild to warm elsewhere with moderate southeast to southwesterly winds.Friday 12 September Slight chance of showers over the south of the Lower South East. Mild to warm with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning until midnight Friday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and south of the Northwest pastoral district increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere over the south of the pastoral districts. Isolated falls of 10 to 20 mm are possible over southern coasts and ranges. Saturday until MondayFine at first then a slight chance of showers about the Lower South East coast on Sunday and about central districts on Monday.
