Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An upper trough over eastern Queensland will move eastwards off the coast during today. A surface trough lies over central and southern inland Queensland. Another weak trough lies just off the Capricornia coast. A large high over the western Tasman Sea will move eastwards over the next few days, with a weakening ridge extending along the east coast of Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over southeastern and central areas of the state, tending to rain areas over the Wide Bay and southern Capricornia. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southeast tropical inland. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mostly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds for much of the state, tending southeast to southwesterly in the northwest.Fire Danger -  High to very high over the Gulf Country.Tuesday 9 SeptemberFine and mostly sunny across the state except for isolated showers about much of the east coast south of Cairns, as a weak ridge provides light to moderate ashore flow. Warmer than normal temperatures are expected in western districts ahead of a southerly change reaching the southwest during the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 10 SeptemberFine and mostly sunny across most of the state. Warmer than normal temperatures are expected over the north, and also over the southeast ahead of a cooler southwesterly change. This feature may produce isolated showers and possible a thunderstorm or two over the southeast during the afternoon.Thursday 11 SeptemberA new high will push through the Bight from Thursday, maintaining the ridge and onshore flow to eastern Queensland. Relatively dry airmass and stable conditions aloft should lead to fine and mostly sunny conditions across the state.Friday until SundayFine and sunny across most of the state. A new high will push eastwards and into southeastern Australia over the weekend, maintaining the ridge and onshore flow to eastern Queensland. An upper trough will push into the west of the state on Friday, and into eastern Queensland on Saturday. Isolated showers are expected about parts of the east coast, and developing over parts of the interior to the east of the upper trough.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDQ10700
