MELBOURNE - Sep 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will remain over the Tasman Sea on Sunday night and Monday. A cold front will move rapidly across the Bight on Monday, weakening as it approaches western Victoria late in the day. The front will cross Victoria and Bass Strait on Tuesday and another cold front will cross the State on Wednesday while a series of deep low pressure systems pass well south of Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of SundayClear apart from fog patches developing over Gippsland later tonight. Moderate north to northeasterly winds and afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Monday 8 SeptemberMorning fog patches in the east. A mild to warm day with strengthening northerly winds over southern and elevated areas. Cloud increasing from the west with patchy rain developing in the west during the afternoon, possibly reaching central areas at night.Tuesday 9 SeptemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms contracting to the east during the afternoon and becoming more extensive with moderate to heavy falls possible in the northeast. Isolated showers to follow with possible thunderstorms over the southwest. Fresh to strong northerly winds reaching gale force about Alpine areas. Winds tending milder westerly from the west during the afternoon and easing.Wednesday 10 SeptemberRain areas in the far east clearing during the early morning. Generally dry elsewhere apart from isolated showers about the northeast ranges and southwest during the afternoon, becoming more extensive over the far southwest at night. Mild with moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 11 SeptemberScattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts with isolated showers extending over the northern plains during the afternoon, though remaining dry over the northwest. Snow above 1400m.
