MELBOURNE - Sep 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strengthening high pressure system centred over Bass Strait will be the dominant feature in the region through the next few days as it strengthens and drifts east. This will generate onshore winds and showers along much of the coast, while a trough developing near the state's northwest corner may lead to unsettled conditions near the Queensland border later on the weekend. At the start of the new week the high is forecast to be over the central Tasman Sea, but will maintain a ridge into New South Wales until the next cold front arrives mid-week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMorning fog patches in the east, and local early frosts on the tablelands. Scattered showers along central and northern parts of the coast, tending isolated in the southeast and about the tablelands. The chance of afternoon showers over the central west and northwest slopes, otherwise fine inland. East to southeasterly winds, fresh along the northern coast.Sunday 7 SeptemberMorning fogs and local frost on the ranges and southeastern inland areas. Isolated showers about the central and northern coasts, and adjacent ranges, tending scattered in the north. Showers developing over the northern inland, mainly near the Queensland border. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds.Monday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers along the central and northern coast and adjacent ranges, and over the northeastern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds, freshening in the south and west.Tuesday 9 SeptemberScattered showers developing over the southern inland, increasing to rain on the far southern slopes by evening. Fine elsewhere.
