MELBOURNE - Sep 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low pressure system over the central Tasman Sea is moving towards New Zealand, while a high south of the Bight drifts east. This high is expected to become the dominant feature in the region as it strengthens through the weekend, bringing onshore winds and showers to much of the coast, while a trough developing near the state's northwest corner may lead to unsettled conditions near the Queensland border. By Monday the high is forecast to be over the Tasman Sea, with a cold front from the Southern Ocean approaching New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers east of the Divide, mainly near the coast, and the chance of afternoon showers along the western slopes. The odd afternoon snow shower above 1500 metres on the Alps. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, fresh at times near the central and northern coasts. Dangerous surf conditions along much of the coast.Saturday 6 SeptemberMorning fogs and some frost on the ranges and southeastern inland areas. Scattered showers along central and northern parts of the coast, tending isolated in the southeast. The chance of afternoon showers about the central west and northwest slopes, otherwise fine over the inland. East to southeasterly winds.Sunday 7 SeptemberMorning fogs and some frost on the ranges and southeastern inland areas. Isolated showers about the central and northern coasts, and adjacent ranges, tending scattered in the north. Showers developing over the northern inland, mainly near the Queensland border. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds.Monday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers along the central and northern coast and adjacent ranges, and over the northeastern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 9 SeptemberScattered showers developing over the southern inland, increasing to rain on the far southern slopes by evening.
