Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high in the western Great Australian Bight will move eastwards over the next few days, strengthening a ridge along the east coast of Queensland. A low in the Tasman Sea is generating large swells over far southern Queensland waters which should gradually ease as the low move eastwards over the next few days. An upper trough is likely to move eastwards across central and southern Queensland on Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine, dry and clear across the state. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds across most of the state.Friday 5 SeptemberFine, dry and mostly sunny across the state. Areas of early frost over the southern, central and southeast interior. Swells should ease over far southern waters as the low in the Tasman Sea moves to the east.Fire Danger -  A moderate to high fire danger over the eastern districts.Saturday 6 SeptemberThe high should remain over southeast Australia maintaining fine and mostly sunny conditions across Queensland except for the chance of some isolated showers about the Southern Border Ranges and southeast coast. Isolated showers may also develop over the central and southern interior late in the day as the upper trough develops over Queensland. Early frosts are possible about the Granite Belt.Sunday 7 SeptemberThe high should move slowly eastwards through the Tasman Sea, while an upper trough strengthens over Queensland's interior, generating showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms over the central and southern interior as well as southern eastern districts. Isolated showers about the remainder of the coast in an onshore flow.Monday 8 SeptemberThe upper trough should remain over Queensland's southeast interior, producing showers and possibly thunderstorms over the southern and central interior. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, except for the chance of some showers about parts of the remainder of the east coast.Tuesday until ThursdayFine and mostly sunny across the state except for some isolated showers about the east coast as a weak ridge pushes some light to moderate winds ashore.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Friday.Product IDQ10700
