MELBOURNE - Aug 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure will move eastwards across the northeast of the State today and a cold front will move across the southeast. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight in the wake of these features and will then move eastwards during the middle of the week ahead of another front that will move across southern parts of the State on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayAreas of rain at times over the northern agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts, contracting northeastwards to clear by evening. Possible isolated morning thunderstorms about the Flinders district, northern Eyre Peninsula and south of the North West Pastoral district. Showers following the rain, more frequent with possible isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern parts south of about Port Augusta. The chance of isolated showers over remaining parts south of about Coober Pedy. Possible small hail south of a line Kingscote to Aldinga to Keith. Cool to cold, grading to mild in the far north with moderate northwesterly winds in the northeast, turning fresh southwesterly over the remainder.Tuesday 2 SeptemberIsolated showers about southern agricultural area and possible showers over the remainder of the Mid North and southern Flinders, contracting southeast during the day and clearing by late evening. Possible small hail in the south of the Lower South east during the morning. Cool to mild with light to moderate southerly winds.Wednesday 3 SeptemberCold at first with morning frost inland. Slight chance of showers developing over southern coasts and Eyre Peninsula. Cool to mild grading to warm in the northwest with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds ahead of a moderate to fresh southerly change in the west.Thursday 4 September Showers extending over over the agricultural area south of about Cummins to Broken Hill contracting east during the day and clearing in the evening. The chance of showers over the western coasts. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday night to midnight Thursday are expected to be up to 5 mm over the West Coast district and southern Pastorals, 5 to 10 mm over the remainder of the agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 15 mm over the southern coasts and ranges. Isolated falls of up to 20 mm are possible over the ranges. Friday until SundayThe chance of isolated showers about the coastal area west of about Fowlers Bay during Friday morning, otherwise fine.
