MELBOURNE - Aug 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure in the west of the State will extend eastwards to reach a line near Coober Pedy to Mount Gambier late this evening. A cold front will move northeastwards across the State on Monday. A high will develop over the Bight during Monday, then another front will move across southern parts of the State on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the West Coast, Lower Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas and Kangaroo Island, extending to remaining parts south of about Whyalla to Lameroo during the late afternoon and evening. Showers increasing to areas of rain about Kangaroo Island, Lower Eyre Peninsula and southern Yorke Peninsula during the evening. Possible isolated thunderstorms west of Ceduna. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a cooler, moderate southwesterly change in the west extending to near a line Coober Pedy to Mount Gambier late evening.Monday 1 SeptemberAreas of rain at times over the agricultural area contracting to the south of the pastoral districts during the morning then clearing by evening. Showers following the rain, more frequent with possible isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern parts south of about Port Augusta. The chance of showers extending northwards to about Coober Pedy. Possible small hail south of Kingscote to Keith. Cool to cold, grading to mild in the far north with moderate northwest winds in the northeast, turning fresh southwesterly over the remainder.Tuesday 2 SeptemberIsolated showers about southern agricultural area with possible showers over the remainder of the Mid North and southern Flinders, contracting southeast during the day and clearing by late evening. Possible small hail in the south of the Lower South east during the morning. Cool to mild with light to moderate southerly winds.Wednesday 3 SeptemberCold at first with morning frost inland. Slight chance of showers developing over southern coasts and Eyre Peninsula. Cool to mild grading to warm in the northwest with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds ahead of a moderate to fresh southerly change in the west.Thursday 4 September Showers extending over over the agricultural area south of about Cummins to Broken Hill contracting east during the day and clearing in the evening. The chance of showers over the western coasts. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon to midnight Thursday are expected to be up to 5 mm over the West Coast district and southern Pastorals, 5 to 10 mm over the remainder of the agricultural area reaching increasing to 10 to 15 mm over the southern coasts and ranges. Isolated falls of up to 20 mm are possible over the ranges. Friday until SundayThe chance of isolated showers about the coastal area west of about Fowlers bat during Friday morning, otherwise fine.
