MELBOURNE - Aug 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system lies over the central Tasman Sea, while a high over New Zealand extends a ridge into southeast Australia. The low is expected to remain over the Tasman Sea through to the weekend, then gradually shift towards New Zealand. A cold front from the Southern Ocean is forecast to move across the state early next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers near the coast between Batemans Bay and Port Macquarie. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the southeast, and local early frost on the tablelands. South to southeasterly winds in the east, freshening along the central and northern coasts, tending light and variable in the west. Dangerous surf conditions along the central and northern coast.Saturday 30 AugustThe chance of showers near the coast between Batemans Bay and Port Macquarie, more likely in the vicinity of Port Stephens. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog patches inland, and local frost on the tablelands. Southerly winds near the coast, fresh in the north, tending light and variable inland. Dangerous surf conditions along the central and northern coast, contracting northwards during the day.Sunday 31 AugustFine apart from the chance of early showers in the vicinity of Port Stephens. Mostly sunny. Early fog patches inland, and local frost on the tablelands. Southwest to northwesterly winds, with afternoon seabreezes developing along the coast.Monday 1 SeptemberShowers developing across the southern inland, extending to central districts and the southeast in the evening. Local frost on the tablelands. Early fog patches, mainly in coastal districts. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northwesterly winds, ahead of a southwesterly change in the west.Tuesday 2 SeptemberShowers contracting from central districts to east of the Divide during the day. Showers falling as snow on the southern ranges, and possibly about the higher peaks of the central ranges. Fine and partly cloudy in the west. Northwesterly winds in the northeast of the state, tending southwesterly behind the change.
