Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is over the north Tasman Sea and a strong high pressure system is located over the south Tasman Sea. The high extends a ridge northwestwards across Victoria and Bass Strait. Little change is expected in this broad pattern for a few days with the high pressure ridge persisting over Victoria and Bass Strait. On Sunday a cold front is likely to enter southwestern Victoria later in the day before moving through the remainder of the State during Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from patchy fog in the south. Light winds.Friday 29 AugustFine after widespread morning fog patches, mainly in the south. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light variable winds and weak afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 30 AugustFine apart from morning fog. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light winds tending northerly and weak afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 31 AugustFine at first after early fog patches in the east. Scattered showers developing in the southwest during the late afternoon and evening. A mild to warm day with a moderate to fresh northerly wind shifting west to southwesterly in the far southwest at night.Monday 1 SeptemberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas with snow above 1200 metres. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Moderate to fresh northerly winds shifting cooler southwesterly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
