MELBOURNE - Aug 27/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends across the southern Tasman Sea, while a low pressure system is centred over the Coral Sea. Easterly winds generated between these systems are interacting with an upper-level trough over northeast New South Wales to produce showers and rain areas. This upper-level trough is also leading to the development of a new low pressure circulation just off the north coast today, which is expected to move north-northeast overnight bringing heavy rainfall to the far north coast. Multiple low pressure centres are then likely to remain over the Tasman Sea through to the weekend, gradually moving towards New Zealand as a weak ridge develops over New South Wales. The next cold front is forecast to move across the region early next week. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas in the northeast, with moderate to heavy falls likely about the Northern Rivers and adjacent areas.
