MELBOURNE - Aug 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system remains almost stationary over the southern Tasman Sea, while a low pressure trough lies off the New South Wales and southern Queensland coast extending from a low over the Coral Sea. Another weak trough lies over the northern inland with an upper-level circulation associated with this feature expected to remain over the state for the next few days. This upper-level feature is expected to assist in the development of the Coral Sea low as it moves slowly south over the next couple of days. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayShowers in central and eastern districts, more widespread east of the Divide, with snow showers on the higher Alps. Moderate to heavy falls possible about the coast, particularly on the north coast tonight. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the northern inland and along the coastal fringe in the north tonight. Fine in the far west. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh along the northern half of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along northern parts of the coast.Wednesday 27 AugustRain areas in the northeast, with moderate to heavy falls possible along the northern half of the coast. Showers elsewhere in the east, more widespread east of the Divide and contracting towards the coast by evening. Fine in the west and most central districts. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along the northern half of the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along central and northern parts of the coast.Thursday 28 AugustScattered showers over central and northern parts of the coast. Isolated showers remainder east of the Divide. Fine in the west.
