Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system will remain over the south Tasman Sea for the next few days, with a low pressure system developing over the north Tasman Sea. A small low pressure system near Port Phillip will drift northwards across central Victoria this morning before it decays. Another high pressure centre to the west will then link to the southern Tasman Sea high via a strong ridge over Tasmania. This ridge is expected to move northwards to lie over Victoria on Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers over central and eastern areas, tending more isolated to the west and fine over the far northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over central and eastern districts until the late afternoon and snowfalls above 1300 metres. A cool, mostly cloudy day. Moderate southwesterly winds over the west, tending south to to southeasterly. Light winds over the east tending southerly.Tuesday 26 AugustIsolated showers over the east. Morning fog patches near and south of the divide. A cool to mild day with a mostly sunny afternoon. Light southeasterly winds.Wednesday 27 AugustIsolated showers in the far east. Fine elsewhere after morning fog patches. A mild and mostly sunny day with light southeast to easterly winds.Thursday 28 AugustIsolated showers in the far east.
