Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system remains almost stationary over the southern Tasman Sea, while a low pressure trough lies off the New South Wales and southern Queensland coasts. Another weak trough lies over southern inland with an upper-level circulation associated with this feature expected to remain over the state for several days. This upper-level feature is expected to assist in the development of a complex low pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea, with multiple centres likely to form during the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers in the east, becoming more frequent along the coast and adjacent ranges later in the day. Isolated snow showers above 1500 metres on the Alps. Afternoon showers in the southern inland, with possible thunderstorms over southeastern districts and central ranges. Early fog patches, mainly in the east. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, fresh in the north,and south to southwesterly winds inland.Tuesday 26 AugustShowers in central and eastern districts, more widespread east of the Divide, with snow showers on the higher Alps. Showers increasing to rain areas about the Mid North Coast, with moderate to heavy falls possible. Fine in the west. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh along the northern half of the coast.Wednesday 27 AugustRain areas along the northern coast, with moderate to heavy falls possible. Showers elsewhere in the east, more widespread east of the Divide. Fine in the west and most central districts. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along the northern half of the coast.Thursday 28 AugustShowers in the east, more likely near the coast. Fine in the west and most central districts.Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along much of the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
