Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system will remain over the south Tasman Sea for the next week. A cold front crossing waters south of the Bight will weaken to a trough as it moves over western Victoria late on Saturday. The trough will move slowly across the remainder of the State on Sunday as the next high pressure system moves from the Bight towards western Victoria by late in the day. This high will slide south of Victoria and join with the southern Tasman high pressure system on Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine. Light to moderate northeast to northerly winds and seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 23 AugustEarly fog and frost in the east. Scattered showers developing over western districts during the afternoon and reaching central districts at night. A mild day with cloud increasing from the west and moderate to locally fresh northeast to northerly winds.Sunday 24 AugustScattered showers extending across the State but tending more isolated over the southeast and fine over the far northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the east in the afternoon. Snow above 1600 metres. A cool to mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly from the west.Monday 25 AugustFine over the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered over the east. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the east in the afternoon. A cool to mild day with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 26 AugustIsolated showers over the east. Morning drizzle patches over the Central District. Fine elsewhere after morning fog patches. A cool to mild day with light to moderate easterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
