Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deepening complex low pressure system is off the central NSW coast and is forecast to move away to the east on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system south of the Bight extends a high pressure ridge over Tasmania. The high will drift slowly eastwards on Tuesday, passing across Tasmania Wednesday night and reaching the Tasman Sea on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayWidespread rain over Gippsland with local heavy falls. Patchy rain extending to most other districts during the day but fine over the far northwest. Snowfalls above 1700 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, reaching strong to gale force about the Alpine peaks.Tuesday 19 AugustAreas of rain over East Gippsland easing and contracting eastwards during the day. Isolated showers possible over remaining southern and western districts, but dry over the northeast. A cool day with light to moderate southerly winds, fresh during the morning about the East Gippsland coast and eastern ranges.Wednesday 20 AugustFine apart from morning fog patches inland and isolated coastal showers. Cool in the south, but a little milder north of the divide with generally light southeast to southerly winds.Thursday 21 AugustFine apart from morning fog patches and isolated showers in the far east. A cool to mild day generally light east to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDV10310
