MELBOURNE - Aug 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly east. A low over northwest NSW with an associated extensive rain-band is expected to move slowly to the east/southeast today with rain spreading to almost all districts as it eases in the northwest. The rain-band will move further east tomorrow with a complex low pressure system likely to form off the central parts of the NSW coast, leading to localised heavy falls and strong winds in some coastal districts. Uncertainty remains as to the position and strength of the low, and hence the location of associated land gales, which are currently expected on the southern parts of the coastal fringe. The low is likely to be off the central part of the coast Monday with further heavy rain and strong winds for southern and central coastal districts probable. The low should move slowly east Tuesday/Wednesday as a ridge develops over western NSW.
