Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly east. A low over northwest NSW with an extensive rain-band associated is expected to move slowly to the east/southeast today with rain spreading to almost all districts and easing in the northwest. The rain-band will move further east tomorrow with a complex low pressure system likely to form off the coast, leading to localised heavy falls and strong winds in some coastal districts. The low is likely to be off the central part of the coast Monday with further heavy rain and strong winds for southern and central coastal districts probable. The low should move slowly east Tuesday/Wednesday as a ridge develops over western NSW.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayWidespread rain on and west of the ranges, though fine for most of the day in the far southeast. Moderate to heavy falls possible through most central and northern inland districts. The chance of thunderstorms over the northern inland. Rain easing in the northwest during the day, while spreading to coastal areas. Morning fog areas. Early frost in the southeast. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times, turning southwest to northwesterly in the northwest.Sunday 17 AugustRain areas in most districts, with moderate to heavy falls possible about the ranges and coast. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Rain mostly clearing in the north and west by evening. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the east, strengthening along the coast, turning northwest to southwesterly in the west.Monday 18 AugustRain in the southeast, with moderate to heavy falls possible. The chance of showers through most other districts, although remaining fine in the far northwest. Cooler and fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, tending strong south to southeasterly in the southeast corner.Tuesday 19 AugustShowers along the coast and adjacent ranges south from the Hunter, more isolated over the remainder of the ranges and western slopes. Fine on the north coast and in the far northwest. West to south winds, strong along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDN10031
