Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred to the east of Bass Strait extends a ridge northwards along the New South Wales coast, while a trough lies through western Queensland and New South Wales. This trough is gradually deepening in response to an upper-level system stalled over South Australia, with a low pressure centre forming within it. A broad area of rain associated with this system will affect the state's far western districts today, becoming more widespread across the inland during Saturday as the low edges slowly east. Later on Saturday and Sunday the low is forecast to become more mobile, shifting towards the southeast and bringing rain to coastal districts. Most areas will see an easing trend by during Sunday as the system reaches the coast and a weak ridge approaches from the west, although parts of the southeast may continue to be affected by the low as it deepens over the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of FridayWidespread rain and local thunder in the far west, with moderate to heavy falls possible. Rain areas extending to central districts late in the day or overnight. Isolated showers on the northern coastal fringe. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Rain mostly clearing in the north and west by evening.
