MELBOURNE - Aug 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high 1032 hPa over the Tasman Sea is weakening. A new high will move into the Bight on Sunday. An upper level low and cold airmass with an associated surface trough of low pressure over the Northeast Pastoral district will move eastwards over New South Wales on the weekend. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of early frost in the southeast and in the northwest. Early fog patches in the southeast, far west and Kangaroo Island. Isolated showers east of about Coober Pedy to Kimba to Lameroo, increasing to areas of rain over the northern agricultural area, Flinders, east of the Northwest Pastoral and southern and central parts of the Northeast Pastoral. Possible thunder between Moomba to Woomera to Broken Hill. Isolated showers in the far west. Cool to cold with light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty in the north.Saturday 16 AugustEarly frost in the northwest. Early fog patches over the West Coast. The chance of showers about the west coast and east of Port Lincoln to Moomba, increasing to areas of rain east of Leigh Creek to Clare to Lameroo. Cool to cold with light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh about eastern inland parts.Sunday 17 AugustThe chance of light showers about southern coasts. Slight chance of showers east of Leigh Creek to Clare, increasing to areas of rain near the eastern border between about Renmark and Broken Hill. Showers and rain in the east easing during the day. Cool with light to moderate south to southwest winds, fresh in the east.Monday 18 August The slight chance of showers over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, more likely about the southern agricultural area. Cool with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning to midnight Monday are expected to be less than 2 mm, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the Pastoral, Flinders and Riverland districts south of Moomba and east of Woomera, increasing to 15 to 30 mm on and east of the Flinders Ranges with isolated heavier falls of 30 to 50 mm possible on the eastern slopes.
