Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over waters south of the Bight is moving slowly eastwards and will cross Bass Strait on Friday, reaching the Tasman Sea Friday night. Meanwhile a low pressure trough will develop over western NSW on Friday then deepen into a low pressure system as it slowly moves east to southeast across NSW during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly frost and fog patches inland, mainly over the northeast. Isolated light showers in the south clearing later in the day. Cool to cold. Partly cloudy in the south but mostly sunny in the north. Light southwest to southeasterly winds.Friday 15 AugustEarly frost and fog patches inland then a mostly fine day. Patchy rain developing over the northwest during the afternoon and evening. A cool day with generally light winds.Saturday 16 AugustAreas of rain on and north of the divide extending over Gippsland by the evening. Only isolated showers in the southwest and about the central coast. A cool and cloudy day with a light wind tending moderate southeasterly.Sunday 17 AugustAreas of rain across the north and east, easing to isolated showers in the west and clearing from the northwest in the afternoon. Snow on Alpine peaks above 1500 metres. A cool and generally cloudy day with moderate southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
