MELBOURNE - Aug 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system over waters south of the Bight will remain almost stationary until Wednesday, directing a cold southerly airstream across Victoria. The high will move close to Tasmania on Thursday as a low pressure trough develops over South Australia. On Friday the high pressure system will move across to the Tasman Sea as the low pressure trough deepens over western New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 800 metres. Light to moderate southerly winds.Tuesday 12 AugustIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts. Snow above 900 metres. Widespread early frost inland then a cool to cold day with light to moderate southerly winds.Wednesday 13 AugustIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts. Early frost patches inland then a cool to cold day with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Thursday 14 AugustEarly frost patches inland. Isolated showers in the south clearing in the afternoon. Cool to cold. Cloudy periods in the south but mostly sunny in the north. Light southwest to southeasterly winds.Friday 15 AugustEarly frost inland then a fine day although isolated showers possible over the far northwest at night.
