Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system crossing northern Victoria will reach the Tasman Sea later today. A cold front will move from the Bight to reach western Victoria late Saturday, crossing the remainder of the State overnight and early Sunday as a strong high pressure system develops south of the Bight. The high will remain over waters south of the Bight early next week, directing a southerly airflow across Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of FridayEarly fog patches. Isolated light showers over the eastern ranges clearing in the afternoon. Dry elsewhere apart from isolated showers over Gippsland during the morning. A cool day with cloudy periods and light to moderate northwesterly winds.Saturday 9 AugustEarly frost and fog patches, mainly in the north. A cool to mild day with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change over western districts during the evening. Scattered showers developing over the southwest with the change and extending eastwards at night.Sunday 10 AugustScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with isolated showers over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres, but reducing to 900 metres by Sunday evening. A cold day with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds extending throughout.Monday 11 AugustIsolated showers mainly over southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 800 metres. Early frost patches inland then a cold day with moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
