MELBOURNE - Aug 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near Adelaide is slowly moving eastwards and extends a ridge across northern Victoria. A cold front will move northeastwards from the Southern Ocean to cross southern Victoria early on Thursday. The high will follow the front and be located over Victoria by late Thursday before crossing to the Tasman Sea on Friday. The next cold front will move from the Bight to western Victoria late Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMorning frost over the north and East Gippsland. Local early fog in the north. Isolated showers developing on and south of the ranges, although remaining dry over East Gippsland. Showers possibly falling as snow above 1500 metres later in the day. Dry and partly cloudy over the north. A cool day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, freshening near the coast and about the ranges.Thursday 7 AugustIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Showers clearing during the evening. Dry with cloudy periods over the northern plains. A cool day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, tending northwesterly over the west in the afternoon.Friday 8 AugustEarly frost and fog patches in the north. Patchy drizzle over the eastern ranges clearing in the afternoon. Otherwise a dry, cool day with cloudy periods and light to moderate northwesterly winds.Saturday 9 AugustEarly frost and fog patches, mainly in the north. A cool to mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to northwesterly change over western districts in the afternoon and evening.
