MELBOURNE - Aug 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough lies over the northern inland of New South Wales whilst a strong high pressure system over southeastern Australia extends a ridge across the remainder of the state. The ridge will be the dominant synoptic feature over the next few days. A weakening cold front is expected to move through southeast of the state late on Wednesday and along the coast during Thursday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe chance of morning showers on the north coast, and about western slopes of the southern ranges during the afternoon and evening, with snow showers on alpine peaks. Morning frost areas on the ranges and southern inland, and fog patches in the east and south. Mostly sunny otherwise. West to northwesterly winds, freshening in the southeast during the afternoon.Thursday 7 AugustIsolated showers about the far southern ranges. The chance of showers along the coast south from Port Macquarie later in the day. Morning fog and frost. Mostly sunny otherwise. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh along the coast. Northwesterly winds at first in the northeast.Friday 8 AugustIsolated showers about the northern half of the coast. Chance of morning drizzle on the far southwest slopes. Morning fog and frost. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 9 AugustIsolated showers about the far north coast and adjacent ranges. Areas of morning frost and fog. Fine elsewhere.
