Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge across northern Victoria that will remain slow moving until Wednesday when the high begins to move east. A cold front will pass south of Tasmania this morning with the next cold front moving northeastwards from the Southern Ocean to cross southern Victoria early on Thursday. The high will follow the front and be located over Victoria by late Thursday before crossing to the Tasman Sea on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMorning frost inland, mainly in the north and east. Local early fog in the north. Cloudy periods in the south with isolated showers over the Southwest, Central and West Gippsland districts, mainly near the coast. Otherwise a dry, cool and mostly sunny day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 6 AugustMorning frost over the north, mainly the northeast. Local early fog in the north. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges, possibly falling as snow above 1500 metres, although remaining dry over East Gippsland. Dry and partly cloudy over the north. A cool day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, freshening near the coast and about the ranges.Thursday 7 AugustIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Dry with cloudy periods over the northern plains. A cool day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, tending northwesterly over the west in the afternoon.Friday 8 AugustEarly frost patches in the northeast. Isolated showers over the eastern ranges clearing in the afternoon and possibly falling as snow above 1500 metres. Otherwise a dry, cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
