MELBOURNE - Aug 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system lies over southwestern NSW, it is expected to move slowly east over the next few days with a ridge persisting over southeastern Australia. Shower activity is expected on the north coast during this period due to an onshore, southeasterly stream, elsewhere cold nights and clear, cool days are expected. A trough is likely to develop over southern Queensland early next week but at this stage most of the rainfall associated is expected to be well north of our border. Late Wednesday and Thursday a weak cold front may affect far southeast NSW followed by another high pressure system. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers about the central and northern coastal fringe. Mostly clear elsewhere and becoming cold. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh along the coast.Sunday 3 AugustIsolated showers on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere after widespread morning frost. Light to moderate southeast to southerly winds, fresh on the north coast.Monday 4 AugustIsolated showers on the northern coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of showers over the northern inland, chiefly near the Queensland border. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Widespread morning frost inland. Light and variable winds in the south. East to southeast winds in the north.Tuesday 5 AugustIsolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of showers over the northern inland, chiefly near the Queensland border. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost areas inland. Southwest to southeast winds.Wednesday 6 AugustIsolated showers possible on the north coast. Mostly clear remainder. Morning frost areas inland.
