Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front is moving over eastern New South Wales today, accompanied by gusty winds and bringing showers to the southern inland. Conditions will ease through the weekend as a high pressure system to the west strengthens and drifts closer. The stabilising effect of this system will promote fine conditions in most areas, although some very cold nights are expected. The high is expected to be the dominant feature in the region through the first half of next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers across the southern and central inland, more likely about the Southwest Slopes, and possibly extending to the southern coast. Local thunder and small hail over the south. Snow showers lowering to around 600 metres on the southern ranges, and the chance of light snow about western parts of the Central Tablelands. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, with a cold and gusty west to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Fire Danger -  Very High in the northeast of the state.Saturday 2 AugustShowers about southern and central parts of the coast, more likely in the vicinity of Port Stephens. Early drizzle on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, with light snow falls to around 700 metres. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Areas of morning frost on and west of the ranges. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh along the coast.Sunday 3 AugustIsolated showers on the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. A very cold morning with widespread frost, mainly on and west of the ranges. Southeast to southwesterly winds.Monday 4 AugustIsolated showers on the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
