MELBOURNE - Jul 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak low pressure system passing to the south of Victoria will reach the Tasman Sea tonight. A high pressure system over South Australia extends a weak ridge southwards. The high will move eastwards across New South Wales tonight and Sunday and the associated ridge will cross Victoria. A weakening cold front will pass to the south of Victoria Sunday night and a northwesterly airstream will strengthen over Victoria on Monday as another cold front crosses Bight waters. This front will weaken as it crosses southern Victoria and Bass Strait on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayLocal morning fog inland. Isolated showers mainly over southern and mountain areas and falling as snow above 1500 metres, clearing from the west this evening and overnight. A cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh about the coast, gradually tending west to southwesterly.Sunday 27 JulyLocal morning fog. Isolated morning showers about the northeast ranges and over the southwest during the evening, otherwise fine. A cool to mild day with a freshening northerly wind.Monday 28 JulyFine apart from isolated showers over the eastern ranges and the southwest. A cool to mild day with a fresh and gusty north to northwesterly wind.Tuesday 29 JulyIsolated showers about the ranges and the southwest, falling as snow about the Alpine peaks.
