Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weakening low pressure system near Mount Gambier will move slowly southeastwards across western and southern Bass Strait on Friday to lie near northeastern Tasmania on Saturday morning then dissipate to a trough as it moves further east. A high pressure system will cross South Australia on Friday night then move over New South Wales during the weekend and will extend a weak ridge southwards over Victoria On Saturday and Sunday morning. A weakening cold front will cross the Bight to affect Tasmania on Sunday night and a northwesterly airstream will strengthen over Victoria on Monday as another cold front crosses Bight waters.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over most southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers over the northern plains and mainly dry over East Gippsland. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh about the ranges and west coast in the morning then slowly tending northwest to westerly during the afternoon and evening.Saturday 26 JulyIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas mostly clearing later in the day. Snow showers above 1500 metres. Cool to cold and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to southwesterly wind.Sunday 27 JulyFine apart from isolated showers near the west coast and eastern ranges. A cool to mild day with a freshening northerly wind.Monday 28 JulyFine apart from isolated showers over the eastern ranges and the southwest.
