MELBOURNE - Jul 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is currently centred over Bass Strait, while a weak low pressure system is moving slowly eastwards over the Nullarbor Plain. The low will move slowly southeast today and tomorrow, while a low pressure trough and associated cloud band will move across western New South Wales on tonight and on Thursday. The low will remain weak, and should reach Bass Strait by Friday, with the associated trough expected over central New South Wales on Friday and then the northeast on Saturday. Another high pressure system will develop over New South Wales during the weekend in the wake of the trough. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers on the northern coastal and central coastal fringe and patchy rain developing in the southwest later. Cloud increasing elsewhere. Early frost patches on the tablelands, and areas of morning fog in the east. Light and variable winds, turning northerly in the west.Thursday 24 JulyPatchy rain developing across the south, easing to showers in the southwest during the day, though possibly extending to remaining eastern districts later. Rain increasing on western parts of the southern and central ranges and adjacent slopes, with snow developing above about 1500 metres. Partly cloudy in the northwest. North to northwesterly winds, shifting more westerly over the inland through the day.Friday 25 JulyIsolated showers west of the Divide, more widespread over the Riverina and South West Slopes district at first, but clearing during the day. Northwest winds, gusty over the ranges during the day.Saturday 26 JulyIsolated showers over the western slopes of the ranges, contracting to northwest slopes by the afternoon. Morning fog and frosts.
