Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over southeastern Australia extends a ridge over Queensland. The high will move slowly eastwards and is expected to be situated over the central Tasman Sea by Thursday. A trough will enter the far southwest on Thursday and move eastwards affecting southern and central areas on Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms about the southeast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Mostly light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.Wednesday 23 JulyVery isolated showers about the exposed islands along the east coast and the far northeast coast in an onshore wind flow, most likely developing during the evening. Frosts will continue about parts of the central and southern interior. Mostly light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.Thursday 24 JulyThe high over the Tasman Sea will continue to extend a weak ridge along the east Queensland coast. A surface trough is expected to enter the west of the state, however conditions should remain fine over the interior. Isolated showers are expected about the east coast in the onshore wind flow.Friday 25 JulyThe high should continue to move eastwards across the Tasman Sea while weakening. The surface trough is forecast to move slowly eastwards into the central and southern interior triggering some isolated showers. Showers are likely to continue over most of the remaining eastern districts in an onshore wind flow.Saturday 26 JulyThe weakening high should continue to move eastwards across the Tasman Sea while a new high develops over southern Australia. The surface trough is forecast to continue to move eastwards into the southeastern interior, triggering isolated showers, before contracting off the southern and central coast during Saturday evening. Isolated showers are likely about the north tropical coast.Sunday until TuesdayThe new high pressure system is expected to extend a ridge across Queensland in the wake of the trough, bringing more stable conditions throughout most of the state. Isolated showers are possible about the east tropical coasts in an onshore wind flow.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDQ10700
