MELBOURNE - Jul 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system 1025 hPa centred over Victoria will move over the Tasman Sea today. A low south of Perth 1010 hPa will move east over the Bight on Wednesday to be centred near Port Lincoln on Thursday morning then east of the State on Friday. A new high pressure ridge will develop over the north of the State over the weekend then move slowly east. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy rain developing west of about Marla to Roxby Downs to Venus Bay, increasing to areas of rain west of about Ernabella to Coober Pedy to Ceduna. Cool to mild day with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 23 JulyPatchy rain in the west extending over the remainder southwest of Oodnadatta to Marree, increasing to areas of rain over western and central districts south of Tarcoola. Possible isolated thunderstorms about the West Coast and Lower Eyre Peninsula. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh at times during the afternoon, turning moderate to fresh west to southwesterly in the west.Thursday 24 JulyAreas of rain southeast of Port Lincoln to Port Augusta to Hawker contracting to the eastern border in the afternoon. Isolated showers south of Coober Pedy following the rain, scattered with possible thunderstorms about the West Coast and western parts of Eyre Peninsula. Cool with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, tending light variable about the South East districts.Friday 25 JulyScattered showers about the western coast of Eyre Peninsula and about southern coasts and ranges, easing to isolated showers by evening. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area and southern parts of the Flinders and Pastoral districts. Possible thunderstorms about western coasts of Eyre Peninsula during the early morning. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Saturday 26 July Possible light showers over the southern agricultural area on Saturday, contracting to southern coasts by evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday to midnight Saturday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm about the west coast, agricultural area and far south of the Northwest Pastoral, possibly reaching 20 to 30 mm about the West Coast, western parts of Eyre Peninsula and southern parts of the Mount Lofty Ranges. 2 to 10 mm over the remainder southwest of Ernabella to Yunta. Less than 2 mm to the northeast. Sunday until TuesdaySlight chance of showers about southern coasts, more likely over Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East on Sunday.
