LITTLE ROCK - Jul 21/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, old crop long and medium grain rice prices remain steady; parboiled prices steady; second heads steady; brewers steady. Rice by-products: rice bran prices mostly steady; rice millfeed lightly tested; hulls steady on a limited test. Rough rice new crop prices remaining steady to weak on very limited current sales, however majority of producers opting a wait and see program. Unseasonably cool and wet conditions are affecting rice crops on both sides of the spectrum. We are seeing disease and pests have a field day. However, cool temperatures promote low stress which should ideally produce higher yields. In California, old crop medium and short grain milled rice prices steady to 1.00 lower on limited current sales; second heads and brewers steady. Rice by-products: rice bran and hulls prices steady to weak. Trade very light with most producers at a wait and see period. On the CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday July 18th, September 2014 closed .155 lower at 13.125. November 2014 closed .14 lower at 13.35. US dollar index on Friday July 18th settled at 80.57.
