Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over central Australia will extend a strengthening ridge eastwards over southern Queensland, providing a cool dry air flow over most of the state. A large, complex low pressure system will develop over the Tasman Sea, and a series of troughs will rotate around this complex and over southeast Queensland in the coming few days. The first of these troughs will move rapidly across northeastern New South Wales today, leading to a significant increase in winds over far southeast Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and sunny almost throughout. Isolated light showers about the northeast coast. Isolated light showers possible about the Granite Belt this morning, with a slight chance of some sleet. Patchy early morning frost over the central interior. Cold, fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds about southeast Queensland. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere, fresh at times about the northern coasts.Fire Danger -  Very High in most eastern parts, and also parts of the northwest.Saturday 19 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across Queensland as it drifts eastwards over Victoria. Isolated light showers possible about the far northeast coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior. A trough moving northwards off the southeast coast will maintain strong winds over southern offshore waters.Sunday 20 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves towards eastern New South Wales. Another trough moving northwards through southeast Queensland will lead to strong winds being maintained over southern waters, and may lead to a few showers developing about the coast and islands in the evening. A few light showers may affect the tropical east coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior.Monday 21 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves slowly northeastwards and towards southeast Queensland. Isolated showers about the southeast coast and also parts of the tropical east coast. Areas of morning frost over the interior.Tuesday until ThursdayThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it shifts generally eastwards and into the Tasman Sea.
