Weather Situation A high over central Australia will extend a strengthening ridge eastwards over southern Queensland, with cool, dry air returning to most of the state. A trough will move rapidly across northeastern New South Wales on Friday, leading to a significant increase in winds over far southeast Queensland. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated light showers about parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about the northern coasts and in the far south.Friday 18 JulyFine and sunny almost throughout, with just isolated light showers about the northeast coast. Patchy early morning frost over the southern and central interior. Cold, fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds about southeast Queensland. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere, fresh at times about the northern coasts.Fire Danger - High to very high in the east and parts of the northwest.Saturday 19 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across Queensland as it drifts eastwards over Victoria. Isolated light showers possible about the far northeast coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior.Sunday 20 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves towards eastern New South Wales. A few light showers may affect the tropical east coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior.Monday 21 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves slowly northeastwards and towards southeast Queensland. Isolated showers about parts of the tropical east coast.
