Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over central Australia will extend a strengthening ridge eastwards over southern Queensland, with cool, dry air returning to most of the state. A trough will move rapidly across northeastern New South Wales on Friday, leading to a significant increase in winds over far southeast Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated light showers about the tropical east coast. Isolated showers developing about the Central and Capricornia coasts, mostly during the late morning and afternoon. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Patchy early morning frost over the southern and southeast interior districts. Areas of morning fog in the east. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about the northern coasts and in the far south.Friday 18 JulyThe high should remain over South Australia with a strengthening ridge extending eastwards over central Queensland. A deep, complex low will develop over the central Tasman Sea, and the combination of these two systems will lead to cold, fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds over Queensland's southeast. Fine and sunny almost throughout, with just isolated light showers about the northeast coast. Patchy early morning frost over the southern and central interior.Saturday 19 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across Queensland as it drifts eastwards over Victoria. Isolated light showers possible about the far northeast coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior.Sunday 20 JulyThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves towards eastern New South Wales. A few light showers may affect the tropical east coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior.Monday until WednesdayThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves slowly northeastwards and towards southeast Queensland.
