MELBOURNE - Jul 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front will cross New South Wales during Thursday and Friday morning, with generally fresh to strong southerly winds developing behind the change. A high pressure system will move eastwards on in the wake of the change, and will be centred over New South Wales by the end of the weekend. This high pressure will then become slow moving, and will remain the main feature over New South Wales in the early part of next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over the southern and central inland, more widespread along the central and southern ranges and west slopes. Snow showers on the Alps and on the southern and central ranges, lowering to around 700 to 800 metres. Mostly sunny in the north and along the coast. Fresh westerly winds, strong and gusty in the southeast, turning southwesterly in the west during the afternoon.Friday 18 JulyIsolated showers over the eastern inland, tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern and central tablelands. Snow showers to about 700 metres. Partly cloudy in the west and near the coast. Cold, fresh to strong and gusty south to southwesterly winds.Saturday 19 JulyIsolated showers about central and northern coastal fringe. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 20 JulyIsolated showers about central and northern coastal fringe. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
