MELBOURNE - Jul 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong front will move over the south of the State this morning. A high will develop over the Bight on Friday and then move slowly east during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers and possible small hail about the southern agricultural area contracting eastwards during the afternoon. Possible isolated thunderstorms south of Adelaide, contracting southeastwards then clearing in the evening. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area, Flinders and far south of the pastoral districts. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong and gusty about southern coasts and ranges.Friday 18 JulyPossible isolated showers over the agricultural area and west coast. Morning frost patches near and east of the ranges, then a cool day with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Saturday 19 JulyPossible isolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast. Areas of morning frost near and east of the ranges, then a cool day with light and variable winds, becoming moderate northeast to northerly in the west.Sunday 20 July Possible isolated showers about the Nullarbor Plain. Morning frost patches near and east of the ranges, then a cool day with moderate northeast to northerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday until midnight Sunday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 15 to 30 mm over the Adelaide Plains and 20 to 40 mm about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges, with local falls of 40 to 60 mm; 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, 1 to 5 mm over the south of the pastoral districts and less than 1 mm further north. Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers at times, mainly about the southern coastal districts, more likely later Tuesday and Wednesday and possibly extending to the northern agricultural areas. Cool to mild, becoming warm in the far north.
