Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is slowly moving east and weakening, while a broad trough of low pressure crosses eastern New South Wales. Following the trough, a strong cold front from the Southern Ocean will bring a significantly cold outbreak across the state during Thursday and Friday. Another high pressure system is expected to move over southeastern Australia during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas in the east, mostly clearing although showers remaining on western slopes of the tablelands. Snow on the Alps above 1300 metres. Mostly clear in the west. West to northwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south and east.Thursday 17 JulyPartly cloudy in the northwest and near the coast. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern and central tablelands. Snow showers on the Alps and on the southern and central ranges, lowering to about 800 metres. Fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds.Friday 18 JulyIsolated showers over the eastern inland, tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern and central tablelands. Snow showers to about 700 metres. Partly cloudy in the west and near the coast. Cold, fresh and gusty south to southwesterly winds.Saturday 19 JulyIsolated showers about central and northern coastal fringe. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 20 JulyIsolated showers about central and northern coastal fringe. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds turning north to northeasterly inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
