MELBOURNE - Jul 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front over the Bight will move across western and southern coastal districts today. A second front associated with the same deep low over the southern ocean will move over the south of the State on Thursday. A high will develop over the Bight on Friday and then move east during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers developing over the southern agricultural area with possible isolated thunderstorms about southern coasts. Possible small hail south of about Cummins to Adelaide to Keith in the evening. Isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and far south of the Pastoral districts. Cool to cold, grading to mild in the far north. Light winds in the far north, moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds over the remainder, becoming strong and squally about southern coasts and ranges.Thursday 17 JulyScattered showers and possible small hail about the southern agricultural area contracting southeastwards during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the far southeast clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area, Flinders and far south of the Pastoral districts. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong about southern coasts.Friday 18 JulyIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area with possible showers over the northern agricultural area. Cool in the south, mild in the north with generally light southwest to southeasterly winds.Saturday 19 July Isolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast. Cool with light and variable winds, becoming moderate northeast to northerly in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight Saturday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 20 to 40 mm about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges; 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, 1 to 5 mm over the south of the pastoral districts and less than 1 mm to the north. Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers developing about the southern coasts and ranges, more likely on Tuesday and possibly extending to the northern agricultural areas.
