MELBOURNE - Jul 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high will weaken as it drifts eastwards across the Tasman Sea early in the week. An upper level trough and an associated surface trough will move eastwards across southern Queensland today and tomorrow. A new high over central Australia will push cool, dry air across Queensland late in the week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of patchy light rain over the southern interior, breaking up to showers during the day. Isolated showers over the eastern districts. Fine though partly cloudy over the northern interior. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times near the northeast coast.Wednesday 16 JulyThe upper level and surface troughs should move across the state's southeast, producing patchy areas of mainly light rain, showers, and isolated thunderstorms. Isolated showers about parts of the tropical east coast in a weakening onshore flow. A new ridge of high pressure over central Australia will push dry and cool westerly winds across the state, spreading into the southeast late in the day.Thursday 17 JulyA high over South Australia will push cool, dry air across most of Queensland. Just the chance of some light showers about the northeast coast. Areas of early morning frost over the southern and southeast interior districts.Friday 18 JulyThe high should remain over South Australia, maintaining the flow of cool, dry air across most of Queensland. The high will combine with a low over the Tasman Sea to produce gusty, chilly southwest winds over Queensland's southeast. Just the chance of some light showers about the northeast coast. Areas of early morning frost over the southern and southeast interior.Saturday until MondayThe high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across Queensland as it drifts eastwards over Victoria.
