Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea is drifting slowly east, while a broad trough moves from central Australia into western New South Wales. Rain and cloud associated with this trough will affect most of the state today, before moving further east and clearing on Wednesday. Following this, a strong cold front is expected to cross the region during Thursday and Friday, bringing a significantly cold outbreak with strong winds and snow to quite low levels about parts of the tablelands.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges, scattered on the coastal fringe at first. Patchy rain in the west, becoming widespread over the northeastern inland and central and southwestern slopes later in the day. The chance of a little rain reaching central parts of the coast in the evening. Snow developing on the Alps above 1500 metres. North to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 16 JulyFine in the west. Rain areas in the east, mostly clearing during the afternoon although some residual showers continuing on the south and central western slopes of the ranges. Snow on the Alps above 1200 metres. Northwest to southwesterly winds.Thursday 17 JulyCool to cold on the southern inland and and ranges with scattered showers. Snow showers to about 800 metres on the southern and central ranges, more persistent in Alpine areas. Fine elsewhere. Fresh to strong west to northwesterly winds.Friday 18 JulyScattered showers over the southern and central western slopes and the Riverina district with snow to about 700 metres. Isolated showers over the western slopes of the northern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
