Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over Victoria will move slowly east/southeast over the Tasman Sea over the next couple of days as an upper level trough crosses NSW from the northwest. Cloud will increase across the state today with some light, patchy rain expected in the northwest. The upper system will interact with a moist northerly air-stream tomorrow, resulting in an increase in rain over the central part of the state, the cloud-band will move further east and clear on Wednesday. A strong cold front is expected to cross the state Thursday and Friday with strong winds and snow to quite low levels on the southern and central ranges.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers near the coast, more likely along the coastal fringe, particularly later in the day. Light patchy rain developing in the northwest late in the day. Widespread morning frost inland, apart from in the northwest, and isolated fog patches about the ranges and over the southern inland. Cloud in the northwest, extending across much of the state during the day. Light to moderate east to northeast winds inland and southwest to southeast winds along the coast.Tuesday 15 JulyScattered showers along the coast. Patchy rain in the west, increasing along the ranges, western slopes and northeastern inland during the afternoon and at night. Snow above about 1500 metres by the end of the day. North to northeast winds.Wednesday 16 JulyFine in the west. Rain areas in the east, mostly clearing during the afternoon although some residual showers continuing on the south and central western slopes of the ranges. Snow above 1300 metres in the south. Northwest to southwest winds.Thursday 17 JulyCool to cold on the slopes and ranges and over the southern inland with scattered showers. Snow to about the 1000 metre level on the southern ranges. Fine remainder. Fresh to strong west to northwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
