MELBOURNE - Jul 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is crossing New South Wales today, bringing a south to southwesterly change to southern and central parts of the state. The front will reach the north and weaken overnight, while a strong high pressure system south of the Bight will move east and become the dominant feature on Sunday. The high is expected to be centred over southeast New South Wales on Monday night and then over the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A trough will cross New South Wales on Tuesday and Wednesday with more unsettled conditions expected to develop ahead of another strong cold front late in the week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers over the southeast, clearing to just central parts of the coast by the late evening. Snow on the southern ranges to about the 800 metre level, and with isolated snow showers to about 1100 metres on the central ranges. Westerly winds freshening and turning cold, fresh and gusty southwesterly over southern and central parts, strong in the southeast and along the coast.Sunday 13 JulyScattered showers over parts of the central coast, with isolated showers developing in the afternoon on the north coast. Fine elsewhere. Widespread morning frosts and over the ranges and west slopes. Morning fog patches over the southern inland. Southwest to southeast winds, fresh and gusty along the coast.Monday 14 JulyIsolated showers along the coast, more frequent along the northern coastal fringe. Light patchy rain developing in the far west during the day. Becoming cloudy over the ranges and western slopes. Widespread morning frosts and patches of fog about the ranges and in the west. Southeast to northeast winds inland, south to southeast winds along the coast.Tuesday 15 JulyScattered showers along the coast. Scattered showers and areas of rain over the west, with more isolated shower activity along the ranges. North to northeast winds.Wednesday 16 JulyIsolated showers across the state, with some periods of rain along the ranges and western slopes, mostly clearing by the evening.
