MELBOURNE - Jul 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is moving steadily east, while a high pressure ridge over central Australia pushes into New South Wales. This ridge will be short-lived, however, as the next cold front will affect the region during Saturday. Following this, the next high is expected to strengthen on approach and should establish itself as the dominant synoptic feature early in the new week. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers on western slopes of the southern ranges, with snow showers above 1300 metres. The chance of morning showers about western parts of the central ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early frost patches, mainly about the northern inland. West to northwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south and east. Dangerous surf conditions on the coast south from about Port Macquarie during the morning.Saturday 12 JulyIsolated showers developing across the southern and central inland, and the south coast, becoming more widespread in the southeast. Snow showers on the southern ranges lowering to about 700 metres during the day, more persistent on the Alps, and possible late snow showers on high parts of the central tablelands. Isolated showers extending to central parts of the coast later in the day. Early frost on the ranges and in the northwest. Westerly winds freshening and turning cold, strong and gusty southwesterly in the southeast.Sunday 13 JulyIsolated showers along the northern and central parts of the coast. Fine elsewhere. Early frosts over the ranges and west slopes. Southwest to southeast winds, fresh and gusty along the coast.Monday 14 JulyIsolated showers along the coast. Patchy rain developing in the northwest during the day. Widespread morning frosts about the ranges and in the west.
