MELBOURNE - Jul 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front is crossing southeastern New South Wales and it will move across the northeast early Thursday. On Friday a weak ridge will develop briefly over the state ahead another cold front moving through during Saturday. Behind this front a strong high pressure system is expected to move over southeastern Australia on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in the southeast tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow on Alps and possibly overnight in ares above 900 metre. The chance of thunderstorms and and small hail in the southern inland. Mostly clear elsewhere. the Gusty northwesterly winds ahead of a cold, gusty westerly change in the west and southeast.Thursday 10 JulyPartly cloudy along the coast and in the northwestern half of the state. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges. Snow showers above about 900 metres on the ranges in the morning. Cold, fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds, possibly reaching gale-force in the southeast. Dangerous surf conditions.Friday 11 JulyIsolated showers on western slopes of the southern ranges with snow showers above 1300 metres. Mostly sunny remainder. Early fog and frost about the ranges. Westerly winds easing and tending northwesterly.Saturday 12 JulyIsolated showers developing in the southern and central inland, more widespread in the southeast. Snow on the southern ranges lowering to about the 700 metre level during the day, and snow showers on the central ranges above about 1000 metres later. Early frost on the ranges. Westerly winds freshening and turning cold, strong southwesterly in the southeast.Sunday 13 JulyIsolated coastal showers. Early frosts inland. Mostly elsewhere.
