MELBOURNE - Jul 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system will move across the South East this evening and will extend a cold front over the south of South Australia. Another cold front will move across the south late Friday and early Saturday. A high pressure system will move over the Bight late Saturday then move southeastwards to be centred southeast of Tasmania late Monday. An upper trough will move across the State during Sunday and the early part of next week. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayWidespread showers, with possible heavy falls, near southern coasts and about the Mount Lofty Ranges. Scattered showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area, West Coast district and far south of the pastoral districts. Small hail over the agricultural areas and far south of the pastoral districts. Isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area, contracting southeast in the evening. Possible isolated snow showers over the higher peaks of the southern Flinders Ranges. Cool to cold with fresh to strong and gusty northwest to southwesterly winds.Thursday 10 JulyScattered showers about the southern agricultural area easing to isolated showers before sunrise. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area, contracting southwards during the day. Possible small hail over the southeast during the early morning. Possible isolated thunderstorms early morning about the Lower South East. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to westerly winds easing during the day.Friday 11 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area, increasing to scattered showers over the southern agricultural area late afternoon and evening. Areas of morning drizzle about the Mt Lofty Ranges and south of the Mid North. Cool with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly in the south late afternoon and evening.Saturday 12 July Scattered showers over the agricultural area easing to isolated showers early morning. Isolated showers over remaining parts south of about Leigh Creek. Cool with moderate southwest to southeast winds. Sunday 13 July Possible isolated showers about the southern coasts and ranges contracting to the Lower South East coast by afternoon. Areas of rain developing in the far northwest. Cool with moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be up to 2 mm about the far southern parts of the pastoral districts, 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural areas, Flinders and West Coast districts and in the far northwest. Falls increasing to 10 to 20 mm about the southern agricultural area, with local falls of 20 to 30 mm about southern coasts and ranges.
